Information sent by on-board equipment
can be categorised into two major types which are of use to the
logistics sector:
- Information relating to the operation of the actual fleet
may be used to optimise not only its operation but also management
of maintenance. According to data from ANTRAM, approximately
50% of goods transport vehicle costs are variable costs (fuel
consumption, variable manpower costs, maintenance). The system
allows 80% of the information concerning these costs to be
known. The quality and detail of information received allows
investment costs to be recovered through cost reduction and
service optimisation.
- Information concerning staff using the vehicle fleet may
be also be collected. The On-Board computer has been specially
designed so that the driver may receive from the control
centre all data and information required in the course of
his activities. At the same time, a company is able to track
all of the employees actions, provide assistance when
needed, and last but not least, instantly know the result
of the activity.
XTraN is able to extend the corporate
information system right up to the company fleet, facilitating
activity management. This provides an efficient method of exactly
where wastes/loss of resources are occurring, if at a certain
vehicle, with a certain driver, at a particular customers
premises, on a particular route or in a particular country, and
use this information to improve business. |
