The Secure Luggage project [...] predicts the development of two different
systems: one that allows the identification and tracking of bags with
chips inside airports and the other that consists of bag personalisation
giving worldwide control over the bag through GPS/GSM technology. The consortium for the development of this system is composed of ANA - Aeroportos de Portugal - that in 2007 had to deal with more than 400 lost bags per day- ; the University of Minho, Pólo de Inovação em Engenharia de Polímeros (PIEP); Inesc Inovação; Instituto de Novas Tecnologias; Critical Software and Tecmic - Tecnologias de Microelectrónica.
