On 11th December 2001, the PME Digital project in the scope of the Economic Operational Plan, was launched jointly by the Prime Minister, Mr. António Guterres and the Minister for the Economy Mr. Luis Garcia Braga da Cruz. This initiative aims at stimulating the participation of SMEs in the "digital economy" in its broadest sense, as opposed to strictly e-business.

Tecmic was invited to this event to present the XTran Passenger system in use by Carris. This invitation follows official recognition of Tecmic’s capabilities in the high-tech field, and is a prime example of success in Portuguese industry.
