Since our founding, we have taken
part in a variety of Research and Design projects within consortia
at both national and international level. |
| |
To further
this objective, we currently participate in SENSATION – Advanced
SENsor development for ATtentION, stress, vigilance & sleep/wakefulness
monitoring, an EU FP6 project in which 43 other European companies
and research institutions are also involved.
The project’s principal objective is the development
of efficient solutions for reducing accidents caused by lack
of attention, sleepiness and fatigue, through the use of micro
and nano sensors and related technologies, to perform monitoring
of a user’s physiological state.

Intelligent Luggage Project
There exist a number of issues related to the management and security of passenger
and baggage transport. In order to improve baggage security one must
be able to reliably identify and track each item. The latter two are
the most critical aspects which can affect baggage security during transport. |
| |
This project aims to locate and track luggage
items by means of the introduction of smart systems into the
items themselves. The project’s principle
objectives are:
- Development of a novel kind of “intelligent” suitcase,
including an integrated solution with ID, sensor and communications
capabilities,
- Development of a baggage tracking and management system.
The final phase of the project will consist of pilot tests
to be run at Portuguese airports, which will serve as rigorous
tests of the system resulting from the very high standards
required of systems installed in these locations.
This project is funded by the SI I&DT QREN (Quadro de Referência
Estratégica Nacional) national funding programme; with
a start date of 1st September 2008 and end date of 28th February
2011.
The consortium is made up of the companies SETSA (prime contractor),
Tecmic, Critical Software, ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal,
and the R&D institutions INOV e PIEP.

DGF-AE Project
The continued growth in road traffic, most significantly across major European
cities and principal traffic routes, along with changing climate conditions,
are causing a major impact on the goods haulage sector, most notably in: |
| |
- Guarantee of the level of service quality the customer
has contracted for (essentially delays in delivery);
- An increase in operational costs.
The projects objectives are therefore:
- The establishment of a server to aggregate all available
information on road traffic;
- The implementation of a web-service infrastructure aimed
at the management of road traffic flows;
- To allow organisations to cross-reference their operational
data with external data obtained from a network of sensors
at a national and European level.
- Preparation of a case study;
- Implementation of a pilot project within the goods haulage
sector;
- Implementation of a control centre for the analysis and
spatial (map-based) monitoring of business performance,
for different user profiles and business objectives.
The goods haulage company Transportes Luís Simões,
will participate in the project as a specifier and end-user
of the system.
This project is funded by the SI I&DT QREN (Quadro de Referência
Estratégica Nacional) national funding programme; with
a start date of 1st September 2008 and end date of 31st August
2010.
Neste consórcio participam as empresas Tecmic (Promotor-líder),
Transportes Luís Simões e a entidade do SCTN
INOV.
